Rivne oblast was formed in 1939. It is situated in the North Western part of Ukraine. The centre of the oblast is Rivne. The area is 20,1 thousand square kilometres. It borders on Belarus in the North, Ternopil oblast in the south, Volyn’ oblast in the west, Zhytomyr oblast in the east, Khmelnytsky olast in the south east, Lviv oblast in the south west.
