Zoloty Potik is known since XIV century under the name of Zagaypole.
In the documents of 1433 it’s mentioned as the village Potik (Potok) in Halychyna district.
In 1570 it becomes a town. There’s a legend as to the name of the town – Zoloty Potik. When the town was under siege, as the legend says, water magically appeared in the castle and saved the people.
In 1601 Zoloty Potik received the Magdeburg Right.
